No Cupcake carrier? No problem

A basket with cupcakes nestled in cups wrapped for travel with cute dinosaur toppers

I cannot abide, single use kitchen items

So, a cupcake carrier is definitely not making the cut with my limited cabinet space and seven of us currently living here. But every once in a while I have to figure out how to transport cupcakes without things getting messy AND I still want them to be cute.

What I used:

  • short, clear, banquet style disposable cups

  • tongs

  • plastic wrap

  • toothpick

  • cute toppers

  • basket lined with cute cloth - could be any vessel big enough to hold your cupcakes

Start at the beginning

You bake the cupcakes, you let the cupcakes cool, you frost the cupcakes. Then you GENTLY grasp the sides of the cupcake with your tongs, and gently drop it into the banquet style cup.

And then you…

And then you wrap the entire cup in plastic wrap. You take a toothpick and poke a hole and THEN you put the topper through the pre-poked hole. Unless your topper is a toothpick topper. Then you don’t need to pre poke the hole. My toppers were not toothpick toppers so a pre poked hole was necessary.

Tuck them away for transport

After mine were wrapped up, and topped, I tucked them into a cute basket. I made a label so everyone knew they were gluten free, and sent them on their way to VBS.

Woven, wooden basket wiith GF cupcakes tucked inside ready for transport to VBS.

So, It turns out you don’t need a cupcake carrier, especially if you only need to transport cupcakes a couple of times a year.

Happy Baking!

Melinda
