A Pantry Wall, A Simple DIY – Really!
Freshly installed pantry, that we installed ourselves
The problem:
We had a tiny pantry in our tiny kitchen when we built this house. Once I finally sourced matching cabinets we purchased 3 tall pantry cabinets and installed them ourselves.
Small closet style pantry that came with our new build home.
The solution:
There were a couple of switches that were secondary on that wall, so they also had switches on other walls. We just flipped the breaker, I took the cover off, and the switches out and it's a couple of screws that you loosen and take the wires off the switch housing. Make sure you cap them off nice and snug so the wire nuts don't fall off. I removed the baseboards by scoring the caulk, and gently prying them off.
Labor pains?
The hubby and tweens hauled the pantry cabinets in from the garage and I located the studs and threw a few screws in. Then I got to fill up the new pantry which meant it was finally time to demo the old pantry! It's literally that easy. We had an empty wall, we capped off the switches that were there, pulled the baseboards, put the pantry cabinets on it, and screwed the cabinets in. Hardware was the icing on the proverbial cake.
Takeaway
You can absolutely do this. A little muscle to bring the giant cabinets in and you totally got this!
Happy DIY-ing!
